Men Who Lie 2007

Project Background:

When Growing Brain was given a tip about a particular location when scouting for The Manual, not only did the property turn out to be perfect, but the owner was Jesse Shepherd of the Melbourne group SIR. Jesse was just about to launch a new album and inquired if Growing Brain could possibly produce a music clip for the feature track Men Who Lie.

A storyline was devised that would feature Jesse, whilst making use of coverage originally designed to service The Manual with the plan that the resulting clip would be a synthesis of the two projects. Working a minor miracle of planning and implementation, the crew were able to shoot both projects at the same time (over the three-day shoot period).

While the complementary shooting styles allowed the two stories to be inter-cut, the radically different treatment given to the images in post production helped them stand apart as independent works.
